What you can expect at a Rocket Quilters Meeting

Our Agenda

Meeting Time and Place

Meeting Time and Place

We first conduct our business meeting.

We take a short break which provides time for catching up with fellow members, visiting the Nifty Notions and Recycle Table, and participating in Fat Quarters or Block of the Month.

We hold a Show and Tell of member creations.

The second half of the meeting includes something educational such as a speaker, a trunk show or a demonstration.

Nifty Notions

At each of our regular meetings, we will have several Nifty Notions gift packs.

Drawing chances are just 25 cents each or 5 for $1.00

All proceeds go towards our Community Quilts.

Recycle Table

At each of our regular meetings we feature the Recycle Table.  Bring your sewing and quilting supplies you no longer need, and drop it on the table.   Take what you want from the table and leave a small donation.

All proceeds go towards our Community Quilts.

Show and Tell

At each of our regular meetings we hold a Show and Tell where we invite you to share your creations.

Member Teacher

Occasionally, we will offer a Member -  Teacher class after our General Meeting.  You might learn how to create a new quilt block, or embroidery stitches, or other techniques. These sessions being with a lunch break where you can socialize with other members, and then we get into the workshop.

Placemats

We make placemats for Aging Matters of Brevard County.

If you would like to donate materials, we need special occasion fabric, example: -

birthday, holiday, patriotic, seasons of the year, etc. and batting.

If you would like to make placemats, the approximate size unfinished is 17”X14”.  Instead of binding,

stitch around the outside and do a little quilting just to hold the pieces together.

Questions can be directed to Donna Hogan at rocketquilters@gmail.com

Dog Beds

Don't let your fabric scraps go to waste.

At our meeting, take home an empty dog bed bag, fill it up with your scraps, stitch the opening closed and bring it to a meeting.  We will donate it to a local animal shelter.

Sunshine

Do you know a member who could use a cheery hello?   Reach out to Marti Rich mmrich@cfl.rr.com who will send a card, and sometimes a surprise inside.

Opportunity Quilt

The Faceteis our Opportunity Quilt featured at our Anniversary Party in October.

Celtic Stars, measures 67 X 84 and features a tremendous amount of custom quilting by Sheila Bland. This will be the Opportunity Quilt featured at the April Tea Party.  The quilt will be awarded to one lucky member who participates in the drawing.

Challenge Quilt

Each year, we offer the Challenge Quilt.

This year's challenge will be announced at the June meeting.

6 colors, 6 patterns, roll the dice to pick color/pattern.   Bring your finished quilt for the reveal

in October at the Anniversary Party.

Not a Mystery - Mystery Quilt

Please participate in our “not a mystery quilt” (which means you have access to a picture of the finished quilt in advance).

Each month you will receive a set of instructions. The second set of instructions for our Not-a-Mystery Quilt Along was sent out to all members on December 18th.

It is an easy pattern, so hopefully it will go quickly, and, in the end, you will have a beautiful 69.5” x 69.5” quilt.   The completed quilt (quilted and bound) should be ready for presentation at our 2025 April Tea Party meeting, where there will be a contest, and prizes will be awarded for “Quilters’ Choice” and “Best Use of Color.”
