We first conduct our business meeting.
We take a short break which provides time for catching up with fellow members, visiting the Nifty Notions and Recycle Table, and participating in Fat Quarters or Block of the Month.
We hold a Show and Tell of member creations.
The second half of the meeting includes something educational such as a speaker, a trunk show or a demonstration.
Our meetings begin promptly at 9:45.
We meet at
Elks Lodge
315 Florida Avenue
Cocoa
Our annual dues are just $20 and due by the October meeting each year.
We feature the Fat Quarter Drawing at our regular meetings.
For each fat quarter you submit, you will have a chance to win up to 20.
We won't be collecting fat quarters in October due to Anniversary party.
Our September theme is holiday colors.
Our December theme is personal choice.
Build a block of the month and bring it to our regular meetings. For each block you submit, you will have a chance to win a door prize.
The block of the month is featured on the home page.
At each of our regular meetings, we will have several Nifty Notions gift packs.
Drawing chances are just 25 cents each or 5 for $1.00
All proceeds go towards our Community Quilts.
At each of our regular meetings we feature the Recycle Table. Bring your sewing and quilting supplies you no longer need, and drop it on the table. Take what you want from the table and leave a small donation.
All proceeds go towards our Community Quilts.
At each of our regular meetings we hold a Show and Tell where we invite you to share your creations.
Occasionally, we will offer a Member - Teacher class after our General Meeting. You might learn how to create a new quilt block, or embroidery stitches, or other techniques. These sessions being with a lunch break where you can socialize with other members, and then we get into the workshop.
We make placemats for Aging Matters of Brevard County.
If you would like to donate materials, we need special occasion fabric, example: -
birthday, holiday, patriotic, seasons of the year, etc. and batting.
If you would like to make placemats, the approximate size unfinished is 17”X14”. Instead of binding,
stitch around the outside and do a little quilting just to hold the pieces together.
Don't let your fabric scraps go to waste.
At our meeting, take home an empty dog bed bag, fill it up with your scraps, stitch the opening closed and bring it to a meeting. We will donate it to a local animal shelter.
Do you know a member who could use a cheery hello? Reach out to Marti Rich mmrich@cfl.rr.com who will send a card, and sometimes a surprise inside.
The Faceted Star, from Material Maven, measures 71 * 71 and will be the Opportunity Quilt featured at the October Anniversary Party. The quilt will be awarded to one lucky member who participates in the drawing.
Each year, we offer the Challenge Quilt.
This year's challenge will be announced at the June meeting.
6 colors, 6 patterns, roll the dice to pick color/pattern. Bring your finished quilt for the reveal
